Course: Neuroanatomy
The human brain is renowned for its complexity, intricacy, and remarkable beauty—qualities that often inspire both excitement and apprehension among students. This course begins by introducing the fundamental building blocks of the brain and progressively expands to examine their interconnections. To accommodate a broad range of learners, the course is structured to offer multiple levels of engagement, making it accessible to both beginners and advanced PhD students. We will also explore how brain size relates to its structural components, emphasizing the brain’s highly interconnected nature. A central theme of the course is the relationship between brain structure and function. We will investigate how anatomical features underpin normal behavior and how alterations contribute to neurodegenerative diseases. This includes a systems-level examination of various sensory modalities.By the end of this five-lecture series, participants will be equipped with the foundational knowledge needed to engage with contemporary neuroscience research and to understand how specific brain structures contribute to diverse scientific questions.
